Alaska whitewater - Jacksina River, Wrangell Mountains, Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough

Valdez-Cordova Census Area county, Upper river to Nabesna River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     29 miles
This stretch of Jacksina River in Alaska is 29 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The wonderful Alaska scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the
river where you can camp. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. This is the only paddling stretch along Jacksina River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very
popular destination. The beautiful Wrangell Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places.
