The Kenai Lake to Skilak Lake section of Kenai River is 18 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. This is the only paddling section along Kenai River. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you     coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Kenai River reach the 60's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while Kenai River nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. Kenai River is a location that is rather dried out generally; September is the month that gets the most rain while April is generally the driest month. Going for a hike on the Russian Lakes Trail is always a fine adventure; Schooner Bend is a great place to stop by while in the area.
