The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alaska are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non     stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling section along Kennicott River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The campgrounds here at Kennicott River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Kennicott River gets very little rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is April. A wonderful place to go to near Kennicott River is Fivemile Gulch. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 60's to Kennicott River. Summer night lows drop down to the 40's.
