This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The McCarthy Road to Nizina River stretch is the only paddling stretch along     Kennicott River. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Fivemile Gulch is a good spot to pop by close by. Kennicott River gets very little rainfall; all through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is April. Through the warmest time of the year at Kennicott River highs are usually in the 60's while overnight lows are mostly in the 40's.   The wintertime brings highs down to the 0's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Kennicott River descend into the-20's.
