  The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Gravel bar to Chitina River section of Kiagna River in Alaska is 19 miles
    long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Kiagna River doesn't
have a lot of paddling stretches, the Gravel bar to Chitina River stretch is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots.

Briefly about the general area:
During the long summer days at Kiagna River temperatures are typically in the 60's with overnight lows in the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs are typically in the-20's, and night lows in the-30's for Kiagna River.
Kiagna River is commonly a rather dried out site; through July this area sees the most rain, and March is when it's the driest.
