Alaska whitewater - Kiagna River, Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough
Valdez-Cordova Census Area
county,
Gravel bar to Chitina River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V+ 19 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. The beautiful scenery of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there
are not so many other good spots for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds
nearby. The Gravel bar to Chitina River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Kiagna River. This section of Kiagna River in Alaska is 19 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater.
