The Klutina Lake to Richardson Highway Bridge at Copper Center stretch of Klutina River is 28 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A bit of exercise and
spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. This is the only paddling section along Klutina River.

days of the wintertime come with highs in the 0's with temperatures at Klutina River dipping down into the-20's all through winter nights. If you haven’t been to Wrangell - St Elias National Park & Preserve, you have to schedule some time for it while you're here, and fine hiking is available along the Klutina Lake Trail. Cooks Bend is a great location to stop by while in the area.
