The wonderful North Slope Borough scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This stretch of Kongakut River is 60 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is the only paddling section along Kongakut River. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the-10's while Kongakut River nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the-30's.
