  The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The natural beauty of North Slope Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here
    and paddle. This stretch of Kongakut River in Alaska is 60 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want
to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Now this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. The Mountains to Arctic Ocean section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby  

Briefly about the general area:
Kongakut River is pretty dried out commonly. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is March. Through the summertime months at Kongakut River highs are usually in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the-10's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Kongakut River temperatures fall to the-30's.
