  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. A stretch of
    this length does require some preparations, so it looks like you will be camping out. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There's camping available near Kotsina River. Not
too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch of Kotsina River in Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough is 42 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. The Wrangell Mountains scenery is wonderful. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
