This stretch of Kuskulana River in Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough is 19 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater.     you glad you came. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The Wrangell Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nature scenery of Alaska and the sparkling of the sunlight
on the water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Nugget Creek to McCarthy Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
