county,
Chelatna Lake to Yentna River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III+ 55 miles
This section of Lake Creek is 55 miles long and is a class III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Alaska scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The campgrounds here at Lake Creek are pretty good. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The Alaska Range scenery is wonderful. The Chelatna
Lake to Yentna River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Lake Creek. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
