  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Chelatna Lake to Yentna River section of Lake Creek in Alaska is 55 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+ section. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Chelatna Lake to Yentna River section is the only paddling section along Lake Creek. The campgrounds here at Lake Creek are
    pretty good. The scenic beauty of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Now this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Alaska Range is a great experience.

Around Lake Creek you don’t get a lot of rainfall; September is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is April.
Summertime highs at Lake Creek regularly tend to be in the 60's with night lows in the 40's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 20's, and night lows at Lake Creek through the winter mostly sink into the 0's.
