Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Alaska and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Lodging is available near     the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Juneau, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is the only paddling section along Lemon Creek. Briefly about the general area: At Lemon Creek throughout the summer months highs are in the 60's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Lemon Creek temperatures drop to the 20's. The Nugget Creek Trail offers hiking at its best. There's glorious hiking along the Lemon Creek Trail, and Eaglecrest is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood.   All the water falling down from the sky makes Lemon Creek a wet location; the wettest month of the year is typically October, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is April.
