The beautiful scenery of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the water flowing gracefully down Little Susitna River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The beauty of the Talkeetna Mountains is a great plus for this river. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course,     there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Mother Lode Cookhouse and Saloon to Shrock Road Bridge section is one of them. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
