The Heiden Canyon section of Lowe River in Alaska is 7.5 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The wild scenery of the Chugach Mountains is great. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there     are a few others too. The nature scenery of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Lowe River are pretty good. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months highs here at Lowe River get into the 60's; the overnight is fairly cooler of course, frequently in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Lowe River   descend into the 10's. Lowe River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is June.
