Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to     paddle. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Heiden Canyon stretch is one of them. The river winds through the Chugach Mountains and you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The campgrounds here at Lowe River are pretty good. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Lowe River. You might want to pay a visit   to Heiden Canyon since you're here at Lowe River. Lowe River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and June is when it's the driest.
