  This stretch of Lowe River in Alaska is 7.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the water flowing gracefully down Lowe River make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.
    This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Chugach Mountains is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,
doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent  
or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
A good place to stop by near Lowe River is Heiden Canyon. Summertime highs at Lowe River generally tend to be in the 60's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Lowe River descend into the 10's. The high level of precipitation makes Lowe River a pretty wet spot. Throughout September this area sees the most rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
