The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Heiden Canyon stretch is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind     that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The campgrounds here at Lowe River are pretty good. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. The wild scenery of the Chugach Mountains is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Briefly about the general area: Near Lowe River you find Heiden Canyon which is a fine place to have a look at. Lowe River regularly gets a large amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year September is the one with   the most rain; June is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Lowe River throughout the warmest time of the year are in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 40's. All through the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Lowe River are in the 10's.
