This section of Lowe River in Alaska is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whether
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The river winds through the Chugach Mountains and you get great scenery. The nature scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make
the trip here worthwhile. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Keystone Canyon section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: All year is a delightful time in the Chugach Mountains if you go for the outdoors. A short trip to Bridal Veil Falls is always worthwhile. Rudleston Falls is a gorgeous place to have a look at while you're at Lowe River, and Snowslide Gulch is another delightful location
to stop by close by. At Lowe River all through the summer highs are in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Lowe River dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. Lots of rain falls at Lowe River; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
