  The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The wonderful Alaska scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on
    the water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many stretches to paddle in this
river system, the Below Keystone Canyon stretch is just one of many. The beauty of the Chugach Mountains is a great plus for this river. The Below Keystone Canyon section of Lowe River in Alaska is 13 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality  
time in nature are great reasons to come.

Briefly about the general area:
Nearby Goat Gully is a glorious spot to go if you're at Lowe River, and you'll most likely meet some folks from Valdez here. And that's not all there is to do here in the Chugach Mountains. High temperatures at Lowe River during the days of summer are in the 60's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are mostly in the 20's; overnight lows at Lowe River throughout the wintertime commonly descend into the 10's. Lowe River is a wet spot that gets a good deal of precipitation.
