Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The wonderful Alaska scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Lowe River beats anything. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater paddling here in the Chugach     Mountains is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. There's camping available near Lowe River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Goat Gully is a delightful spot to spend some time at. Summertime brings highs in the 60's to Lowe River with overnight lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's while Lowe River nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the   10's. Lowe River generally gets much precipitation; September is when you get the most rain here, and June is the month with the least moisture.
