The beautiful scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the water flowing gracefully down Lowe River have people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Chugach Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you have the time you can     make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There's camping available near Lowe River. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Below Keystone Canyon stretch is one of them. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 60's at Lowe River. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; nighttime lows at Lowe River through the wintertime generally plunge   into the 10's. Lowe River typically gets lots of rain; September is when you get the most rain here, and June on the other hand is the driest. A good site close to Lowe River is Goat Gully.
