Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. by American Whitewater to be a class III+(V+) section. The Close to Bonanza Ridge to McCarthy section is the only paddling section along McCarthy Creek. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might
be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm months at McCarthy Creek highs are commonly in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. During the winter this place gets highs in the-10's with winter lows in the-30's overnight here at McCarthy Creek. McCarthy Creek is a location that is quite dried up regularly; during July this area sees the most rain; March is when it's the driest.
