This stretch of Mendenhall River in Juneau Borough is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. This is the only paddling section along Mendenhall River. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: This is such a wonderful river. During the summertime highs here at Mendenhall River reach the 60's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the period of the wintertime the   highs are generally in the 20's while Mendenhall River nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's. Mendenhall River is right by the West Glacier Trail; do take a hike on the Spaulding Trail.
