The Upper Canyon to coast section of Mineral Creek in Alaska is 5.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a     one day paddling trip. There's camping available near Mineral Creek. Whitewater paddling here in the Chugach Mountains is a great experience. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Upper Canyon to coast section is one of them. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Mineral Creek through the summertime months are in the 60's, and the night is a little cooler of course, generally in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures   at Mineral Creek fall into the 10's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Mineral Creek a wet place; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
