CLASS II 81 miles
The beautiful scenery of Alaska and the water flowing gracefully down Nabesna River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Nabesna River is 81 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The Nabesna Glacier to Northway
Indian Village stretch is the only paddling stretch along Nabesna River.
Briefly about the general area: At Nabesna River throughout the long summer days highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the-10's while Nabesna River overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-30's. Not much precipitation falls here at Nabesna River. July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is March.
