The Kennicott River to Chitna River section of Nizina River in Wrangell-St. Elias Natl. Park Borough is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Kennicott River to Chitna River section is     one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The nature scenery of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The beautiful Wrangell Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: It is very dry here at Nizina River ordinarily; the wettest month of the year is commonly July, that's the one that rains the most while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. All through the warm months, highs regularly are in the 60's at Nizina River,   and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 0's with temperatures at Nizina River dipping down into the-20's throughout winter nights.
