Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Kennicott River     to Chitna River section is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wonderful Wrangell-St. Elias Natl. Park Borough scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the warm days of summer at Nizina River highs are mostly in the 60's with overnight lows in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 0's, and winter nights come with lows in the-20's to Nizina River.
