  The Twelvemile Creek to Noatak Village section of Noatak River in NW Arctic Borough Borough is 370 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I(II) section. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. You
    might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder
than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Baird Mountains scenery is wonderful. Noatak River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Twelvemile Creek to Noatak Village stretch is the only one. The wonderful NW Arctic Borough Borough scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here.

the general area:
Summertime at Noatak River comes with high temperatures in the 60's. During the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 10's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Noatak River temperatures sink to the-10's. Noatak River is a location that is reasonably dried up regularly. August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
