The Tripple Lakes Trail to Nenana River stretch of Riley Creek in Denali Borough is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful Alaska Range scenery is an added bonus. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have
a lot of people coming here. There are no other stretches to paddle along Riley Creek than the Tripple Lakes Trail to Nenana River stretch. There's camping available near Riley Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. The beautiful scenery of Alaska and the cool fresh water will make you feel great.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Riley Creek through the days of summer are in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 0's while the cold winter nights at Riley Creek are in the-20's. Riley Creek is a location that is pretty dehydrated ordinarily; most of the rain falls through July while April is mostly the driest month.
