The wonderful Alaska scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This is the only paddling stretch along Riley Creek. No need to look hard for hotels, and     if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. Whitewater paddling here in the Alaska Range is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Riley Creek commonly tend to be in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 0's; night lows at Riley Creek all through the wintertime frequently sink into the-20's.
