The Denali Road to Teklanika River stretch of Sanctuary River in Denali Borough is 7.2 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Alaska Range scenery is an added bonus. Sanctuary River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Denali Road to Teklanika River stretch is the only one. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in
this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance,
suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.
