This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The campgrounds here at Savage River are pretty good. The Denali Park Road Bridge to Stampede Road section is the only paddling section along Savage River.
Briefly about the general area: At Savage River through the warm months highs are in the 70's; the overnight is slightly cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 0's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Savage River temperatures
sink to the-20's. Savage River gets very little rain; the month with most of the rain is July while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
