This section of Sheep Creek in Matanuska-Susitna Borough is 25 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Talkeetna     Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The natural beauty of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There are no other sections to paddle along Sheep Creek than the to Parks Highway section.
