CLASS III     25 miles
  The put-in is not too far from Anchorage, as you can see on the road map further down. The to Parks Highway stretch of Sheep Creek in Matanuska-Susitna Borough is 25 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful Talkeetna Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The beautiful scenery of Alaska and the cool fresh water
     beats anything. This is the only paddling stretch along Sheep Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people.

For the duration of the summer highs here at Sheep Creek get into the 60's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 10's; night lows throughout the winter
