  The nature scenery of Alaska and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The Stephan Lake to Susitna River at Talkeetna Village stretch of Talkeetna River in Alaska is 54 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There's camping available near Talkeetna River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There are no
    other sections to paddle along Talkeetna River than the Stephan Lake to Susitna River at Talkeetna Village section. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. There
arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. The river

Briefly about the general area:
For the period of the months of summer, highs generally are in the 60's at Talkeetna River. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's while the cold winter nights at Talkeetna River are in the 0's. Talkeetna River is a good spot of normal rainfall. The month with most of the rain is August, and May is the month with the least moisture.
