This section of Tana River is 36 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are no other sections
    to paddle along Tana River than the Gravel Bar to Chitina River section. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle
for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beauty of the Chugach Mountains is a great plus for this river. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
