The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The natural beauty of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The river winds through the Chugach Mountains and you get great scenery. If you have the
time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This is the only paddling section along Tasnuna River. The Upper gravel bar to Copper river section
of Tasnuna River is 23 miles long and has been rated as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
