Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of Tiekel River in Alaska is 19 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Alaska and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The Richardson Highway to right above Canyon section is one of a few paddling sections in this river
system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Chugach Mountains is great. This section is long enough for an overnight trip
if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
