Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The wonderful Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Tsina River have people coming here. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section
of Tsina River is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
rivers. When you're paddling down a Chugach Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: At Tsina River you don’t see much rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; April meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime highs at Tsina River mostly tend to be in the 60's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 0's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Tsina River temperatures plunge to the-20's.
