  The beautiful scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Valdez Glacier to Richardson Highway stretch of Valdez Glacier Stream in Alaska is 3 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The campgrounds here at Valdez Glacier Stream are pretty good. The beauty of
    the Chugach Mountains is a great plus for this river. Valdez Glacier Stream doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Valdez Glacier to Richardson Highway section is the only one. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this
area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
