The wonderful Alaska scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors     have a lot of people coming here. The put-in is not too far from Anchorage, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Close to Hatcher Pass to lower Willow Creek section is one of them. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. For the period of the warmest time of the year, highs generally are in the 60's at Willow Creek; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
