Wortmann's Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Upper River to Lowe River stretch is the only one. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Chugach Mountains scenery is wonderful. The nature scenery of Alaska and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no     problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: If you would like a little side spree, try Heiden Canyon. For the duration of the long summer days at Wortmann's Creek temperatures are usually in the 60's while overnight lows are regularly in the 40's.   The winter comes with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Wortmann's Creek dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. Wortmann's Creek is a wet spot that gets a great deal of precipitation; most of the rain falls through September, and June is when it's the driest.
