The wonderful Alaska scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The Chugach Mountains scenery is wonderful. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and     spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The Upper River to Lowe River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Wortmann's Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Briefly about the general area: Heiden Canyon is a splendid place to visit right next door to Wortmann's Creek. Summertime highs at Wortmann's Creek generally tend to be in the 60's, and the night is a little colder of course, typically in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime   temperatures at Wortmann's Creek dip into the 10's. Wortmann's Creek is a reasonably wet place frequently with a good deal of rain; September is when you get the most rain here while June is generally the driest month.
