Arizona whitewater - Black River - East Fork, Mogollon Rim Mountains, Apache County

Apache county, Diamond Rock to Wildcat Point section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arizona is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The scenic beauty of Apache County and the cool fresh water beats anything. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling stretch along Black River - East Fork. The beauty of the Mogollon
Rim Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.

Briefly about the general area:
So much fun stuff in the Mogollon Rim Mountains, just unbelievable. At Black River - East Fork you don’t see much rainfall; all through August this area sees the most rain, and May is when it's the driest.
It's always pleasant to stop by Mushroom Seep, and Bill Earl Spring is a wonderful local attraction. High temperatures at Black River - East Fork through the months of summer are in

the 70's, and the nighttime is rather chillier of course, mostly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Black River - East Fork.
