The campgrounds here at Colorado River are pretty good. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches     in this river system, there are a few others too. The nature scenery of Mohave County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arizona are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Briefly about the general area: This river is so good. Summertime highs at Colorado River regularly tend to be in the 100's with nighttime lows in the 70's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Colorado River temperatures dip to the 30's. Big Sand Bar Rapids is a scenic spot to check out while you're at Colorado River; nearby Big Sand Bar is a brilliant place to go. Not much rainfall   falls here at Colorado River; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here while June is usually the driest month. Big Sand Bar is a fine local attraction, and Special Events Beach is rather close by if you're in a beach type of mood.
