Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The natural beauty of Arizona and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The campgrounds here at Colorado River are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,
this is an area with not too many other places for that.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Colorado River arrives with high temperatures in the 100's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 70's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Colorado River. This river is so good. It is very dry here at Colorado River regularly; August is the month that gets the most rain, and June is the month with the least moisture. Big Sand Bar Rapids is an inspiring site
to have a look at during your stay, and nearby you discover Big Sand Bar which is a delightful place to have a look at. A short tour to Big Sand Bar is always worthwhile, and on a tremendous day it's a great idea to spend the day at Special Events Beach.
