The starting point is not too far from Safford, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Arizona and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. This is the only paddling stretch along Gila River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t     have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. Briefly about the general area: At Gila River through the summertime highs are in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Gila River are in the 30's.
