The beautiful scenery of Coconino County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Little Colorado River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Below Grand Falls to above Black Falls stretch is the only one. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arizona are often more challenging than in |
other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.
Briefly about the general area:
Little Colorado River gets very little rainfall; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here,
| and June meanwhile is the driest month.
Box Spring is always fun to check out, and a tour to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is recommended. At Little Colorado River all through the summer months highs are in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Little Colorado River temperatures plunge to the 20's. | |
