The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The starting location is a short drive from Flagstaff, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors
have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The wonderful Arizona scenery and the
water flowing gracefully down Little Colorado River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: There are nice places to discover along the Blue Springs Trail. At Little Colorado River during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Little Colorado River night low temperatures all through the winter are in the 10's.
It is very waterless here at Little Colorado River usually; January is the wettest month with most snow, and June on the other hand is the driest.
