Arizona whitewater, Little Colorado River

Coconino county, Cameron to Colorado River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V+     51 miles

The Little Colorado River was dry at Cameron and hardly navigable where there was any water.

Little Colorado River has good camping and much uniformity in whitewater. Says Fred Doeffeldag

The Cameron to Colorado River section of Little Colorado River in Arizona is 51 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Coconino County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Little Colorado
River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very
popular destination. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. The average Arizona whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Whether you're whitewater rafting or
kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. The put-in is not too far from Flagstaff, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking along the Blue Springs Trail is great fun. Little Colorado River is a location that is rather dried up ordinarily. For the period of the month of January you get the most snow around here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
