The natural beauty of Arizona and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arizona is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Salt River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections,     the Stewart Mountain Dam to Granite Reef Dam section is the only one. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: During the summertime highs here at Salt River get into the 100's while overnight lows are commonly in the 70's. Highs throughout the winter are generally in the 60's; night lows at Salt River through the winter regularly plunge into the 30's.
