Arizona whitewater - Verde River, Maricopa County Maricopa county, Bartlett Reservoir to confluence with Salt River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     19 miles   The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch of Verde River in Arizona is 19 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There     aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful scenery of Maricopa County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Briefly about the general area: A glorious site to have a look at close to Verde River is Malpais Canyon. Verde River is pretty arid frequently; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. High   temperatures at Verde River throughout the warm months are in the 100's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. All through the winter the highs are regularly in the 60's; night lows all through the wintertime for Verde River tend to be in the 30's.
