This stretch of Verde River in Yavapai County is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Yavapai County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day
paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: A spree to Verde River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at White Flash Rapid, and nearby Gospel Hollow is a great spot to go. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. The Cold Water Trail offers hiking at its best. At Verde River through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 100's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Verde River. Not
much rain falls here at Verde River; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is May. Verde River is right by the Towel Creek Trail, and a short trip to Wet Prong Spring is always worthwhile.
