The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arizona are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The Horseshoe Reservoir to Bartlett Reservoir stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The beautiful scenery of Arizona and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The campgrounds     here at Verde River are pretty good. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Why not stop at Devils Hole also while you're here, and hiking along the Table Mountain Trail is tremendous fun. Summertime highs at Verde River typically tend to be in the 100's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the   50's; overnight lows at Verde River throughout the wintertime regularly sink into the 30's. Verde River gets very little precipitation; through the month of August you get the most rain around here; June is the month with the least moisture.
