This stretch of Verde River in Yavapai / Maricopa County is 19 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Horseshoe Reservoir to Bartlett Reservoir     section is just one of many. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Verde River is ordinarily a relatively dehydrated location; the month with most of the rain is August; June is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the long summer days, highs commonly are in the 100's at Verde River; the overnight is rather   colder of course, typically in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Verde River are in the 30's. Devils Hole is near Verde River and is a great place to visit; Verde River is right by the Table Mountain Trail.
