The beautiful scenery of Yavapai/ Pima County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The starting point is not too far from Prescott, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Perkinsville to Clarkdale section is one of
a few paddling sections in this river system. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking
in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
Briefly about the general area: Verde River is pretty dried up usually; during August this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is June. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Verde River while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Six is a good hiking trail near Verde River, and Verde River lays in the shadow of the Antelope Hills. Near Verde River you find the Woodchute Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and while you're here, you might as well stop by Bakers Pass. This river is a wonderful place to visit.
