Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arizona is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of Arizona and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area
has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Perkinsville to Clarkdale section is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: Near Verde River you locate Bakers Pass which is a fine site to take a look at; on a glorious day you can take a hike along the Packard Trail Nmber Sixty Six. Verde River is typically a reasonably dehydrated site; August is the wettest month with most rain; June is when it's the driest. For the duration of the summer at Verde River temperatures are regularly
in the 80's while night lows are usually in the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Verde River. Verde River lays in the shadow of the Antelope Hills, and the Woodchute Trail is a glorious hiking trail nearby. This river is a wonderful place to visit.
