Virgin River Gorge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Arizona and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Virgin River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Virgin River Gorge stretch is the only one. There are
campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Summer at Virgin River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 80's with temperatures
at Virgin River dipping down into the 70's through winter nights. All the water falling down from the sky makes Virgin River a wet spot; the wettest month of the year is regularly September, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is May.
