The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Adkins / Hailstone Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Dixon Ridge Road to Highway 21 bridge stretch is the only one. You can pitch a tent
or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery.
