The Headwaters to Big Piney Creek stretch of Bear Creek - Big Piney Tributary in Arkansas is 4 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. This is the only paddling section along Bear Creek - Big Piney Tributary. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
