The nature scenery of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're
not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots
of people. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. This section of Beech Creek in Newton County is 7.5 miles long and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are no other stretches to paddle along Beech Creek than the Cave MtNorth Road to Highway 21 stretch. This section is long enough to
enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Briefly about the general area: Panther Camp Hollow is a perfect place to visit nearby. All the water falling down from the sky makes Beech Creek a wet place; May is when you get the most rain here, and January
is the month with the least moisture. All through the warm months here at Beech Creek, high temperatures typically reach the 90's, and the overnight is quite colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while the cold winter nights at Beech Creek are in the 20's.
