This section of Ben Doodle Branch is 7.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Fort Smith, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting some good exercise and just
being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The wonderful Crawford County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. The Camping area to Highway 220 section is the only paddling section along Ben Doodle Branch. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Ben Doodle Branch arrives with high temperatures in the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the
40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Ben Doodle Branch. There is a great hiking trail near Ben Doodle Branch called the Butterfield Hiking Trail. Ben Doodle Branch sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May while January is generally the driest month.
