The starting location is a short drive from Harrison, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Big Devil's Fork is 4.75 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV(V) section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The scenic beauty of Newton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Mountains is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other stretches to paddle along Big Devil's Fork than the Hill Cemetery to Richland Creek Campground stretch.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.

Trail. For the period of the summertime highs here at Big Devil's Fork reach the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Devil's Fork temperatures descend to the 20's.
