CLASS II+ 10 miles
The starting point is not too far from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The Highway 12to Helton's Farm section of Big Piney Creek is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Arkansas
scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping
people there are campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff.
