Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The put-in location is a short drive from Russellville, as you can see on the road map further down. The campgrounds here at Big Piney Creek are pretty good. This section is long enough to enjoy a good
non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll
find a large number of good places. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Big Piney Creek in Pope County is 8.4 miles long and is a class II+(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
